On the other hand it’s rather freeing to be without and you adapt quickly to the change: You make sure to bring your wallet. You sit down at your computer or visit the library for research. Contacting others becomes much more intentional yet far more infrequent. I was without my phone for a week while solo traveling a couple years back and I had the most memorable trip of my life.

Along these lines there's an approach to social media you could call "living like it's 2007" — the year the iPhone came out. For example, you still use social media, you just don't use it on your phone.
