i hate to admit it, but crypto doesn’t reward creators, it rewards the distributors. you earn by getting attention to the thing, not by creating thing.

The difference is, crypto is well suited to avoid distribution lock-in (by using open protocols, for example). Every market rewards attention. In principle crypto can allow creators to own the attention more directly. Right now creators don’t have many attractive choices for Web3 distribution platforms—so the distributors don't have to offer great terms to creators. There is a potential scenario where distribution platforms compete for artists, and this competition for creators helps the creators win. (You can think of the NFL as distrubution for football players. Because of the competitive dynamics between teams trying to get the best players, players do pretty well.) If crypto can deliver on the promise of fewer gatekeepers and more direct creator ownership, I think we could see a healthier balance of power between creators and distributors over time.
