An idea I think about sometimes: The artist and the art are not the same and should be judged as such Too often people conflate the two

I'm always at an impasse about this, I liked this band but their lead singer was a convicted pedophile, I deleted all their songs from my playlist, I can't hear them and not think about the pedophile

I agree - for example I think about Picasso leading multiple women to suicide, but it’s hard for me not to appreciate his work

Picasso is an excellent example of having to separate the art from the artist. He was such a cruel and horrible human being, but such a good artist. I think it’s also easier to separate the art from the artist when they’re deceased, but much harder while they’re still alive.

never thought about an artist's mortality tethered to their creations' sentiment, that brings a new perspective for me, is it wrong of me to hope for a pedophile's death to be swift so that I may have the capacity to relish their music again 🤔

I think that’s entirely reasonable.
