bought a tv yesterday, hadn't owned one since 2007 i've got mixed feelings, but the wife thought it's better for the kids who'd been watching stuff on an ipad when we let them admittedly the kids were super excited, which reminded me how fun tv can be for kids what do you think, /parenting? good to have? a mistake?

Good to have. Better content control than an iPad. Good to normalize it (friends will have access to TV as they get older). We were told recently by a child development therapist it's better to normalize TV and make it no big deal—especially if you watch any tv with your wife. Demonstrates healthy relationship to TV.
