not sure about the current state of warpcast, it seems *very* hard for those without a badge to get visibility. i literally only see posts from users with the badge and i've just realized that i'm missing a lot of nice things (notifications included) from artists i really like that don't have the badge 🤷

yes but we are back to following the rules of an opaque algo that hopefully gives you some visibility if you do what it expects. why would you create a hostile environment for those who are not consistent on social media?

Power badge is to counter spam and suppress low value accounts so you have a better chance of finding quality content Before it was a mess. But hopefully one day soon they can get rid of it. Low value content, spam & bots is a huge problem that has to be countered some way. The specific details of the power badge algorithm are not disclosed to prevent gaming of the system. The other fc algo’s like General Source Code and OpenRank APIs are all open source and verifiable. To earn the Power Badge is not so hard: - Use Farcaster regularly, posting several times a week - Share high-quality content that resonates with other users - Engage with the community by participating in discussions - Avoid posting spam or irrelevant content - Contribute positively to the network They are distributed every Tuesday at 12:00 UTC.

probably with this convo you are already half way to earning yours 😁 another, bigger problem with engagement on fc right now is that there is just little engagement. no so much users active daily. fc is the little Gallic village holding out against the Roman Empire ha ha

thanks for the detailed response misha! i get that this is a pretty complex issue, as you say this algo may not be perfect but it made warpcast usable. i still wonder about this: 1. i had the badge but lost it because i wasn't active. is the quality of my content worse because i wasn't active or is the platform trying to keep me interacting with it? 2. the system assumes that a new user has low quality content unless they prove the system wrong. i'm not sure how this would encourage new users to be active when their casts are not visible and their actions don't even show up in notifications no need to reply just explaining what motivated my original cast 🙂
