AirPods Max will get lossless support with the arrival of iOS 18.4 Only AirPods Max owners with USB-C will be able to listen to lossless 24-bit, 48kHz music with spatial audio over the wire. Apple, how could you do this? As if on purpose and with a sneer, the company reminds that Apple Music contains about 100 million tracks in lossless. The update will also bring ultra-low latency support for live streaming, gaming, and audio processing apps. All in all, two-and-a-half cripples will appreciate it. https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2025/03/lossless-audio-and-ultra-low-latency-audio-come-to-airpods-max/?1742821171

Apple may refuse to release a cheap plastic Apple Watch There are two unsolvable problems in the development of the budget version of the Apple Watch,’ said Mark Gurman. According to the journalist, the design team does not like the current look of the plastic version of the smartwatch, and the operations team has not been able to reduce production costs compared to the aluminium Apple Watch. The plastic case should have been introduced in the next generation Apple Watch SE, which would have lowered the cost and also made it a more attractive solution for children. Given the current problems, Apple's budget smartwatch may not see the light of day at all, and if it does appear, it won't be for a couple of years at the earliest. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2025-03-23/apple-aapl-explores-turning-watches-into-wearable-ai-devices-with-cameras-m8ll6mvy

Apple has lost more than $1bn due to Apple TV+ service According to The Information, the total number of paid subscribers to Apple TV+ has passed 45 million, but the streaming service is still operating at a loss. Last year the company spent $4.5 billion on content creation. True, everyone should have such losses. Losses from the service for the year are only 0.25% of annual revenue - last year Apple earned $391 billion. https://www.theinformation.com/articles/apple-streaming-losses-top-1-billion-year

Apple threatens class action lawsuit over false Apple Intelligence adverts California-based law firm Clarkson Law has filed a lawsuit seeking to fine Apple for violating the Consumer Protection Act, as well as financial compensation for all deceived customers. According to the lawyers, Apple not only misled millions of users who bought iPhone 16 for the sake of Apple Intelligence, but also did it out of malice, knowing in advance that it would not be able to finish the promised AI chips in time for the release of the flagship line. https://www.axios.com/2025/03/20/apple-suit-false-advertising-ai-intelligence

ChatGPT has been accused of defamation A Norwegian man asked a neuron woman about herself and got a serving of chilling nonsense. For example, she came up with the idea that the man had served time in prison for killing two children and attempting to kill a third. Zhuti adds that the β€˜lie’ came out selective: hometown, the presence of three children and their sex neuronka identified correctly. But the information about the 21-year sentence and the crimes committed, she made up. And what to do in this situation, when ChatGPT is already used as a β€˜reliable’ source of information? https://techcrunch.com/2025/03/19/chatgpt-hit-with-privacy-complaint-over-defamatory-hallucinations/

EU required Apple to give third-party devices privileges of the company's ecosystem Yesterday, the EU introduced edits to the β€˜Digital Markets Act’ that require Apple to provide some chips to its products. All changes should get beta status as early as iOS 19, and fully functional in iOS 20. Among the requirements: the ability to respond to notifications, which was exclusive to the Apple Watch; the option to automatically pair with iPhones, like AirPods, and switch audio between the two devices; the admission of AirDrop and AirPlay analogues; permission to run in the background for individual apps; access to bank tokens via NFC in the absence of an iPhone, and automatic connectivity with Wi-Fi to share passwords. https://9to5mac.com/2025/03/19/eu-order-apple-interoperability/

Future iPhones may replace volume buttons with Action Buttons On the website of the U.S. patent office found another β€œrevolution” from Apple. The official patent documentation states that all three left iPhone buttons could be replaced with Action Buttons. Thus, the volume buttons will potentially get the opportunity to customize while retaining the usual function. The innovation doesn't end there. The paper claims that the Action Button could be used in other portable electronic devices. Specific examples are not given, but the vague wording suggests that customizable keys could debut in any compact Apple device from Mac to Watch. https://www.patentlyapple.com/2024/11/apples-action-button-patent-was-published-this-week-revealing-future-details-and-its-expansion-to-th.html

Wallace and Gromit became the face of the β€œFilmed on iPhone” campaign Aardman Studios' animation will grace the facade of London's Battersea Power Station. The video was shot on an iPhone 16 Pro Max telephoto lens. It is a six-minute Christmas video that will be shown until the holiday. The two towers of the power station have become the Christmas trees that decorate Wallace and Gromit. As you walk by, you can watch the cartoon and take selfies. And they didn't use any professional cameras. Just eight iPhones and a Dragonframe Tether frame-by-frame animation app. The shots were taken in 4K ProRAW and then spliced in 6K to make the final video look good on the towers. Apple details the process on a separate page. https://www.apple.com/uk/apple-christmas-trees/
