when infrastructure doesn’t work, we turn to hardware it’s almost like we’re forgetting something crucial

You’re saying games are the issue?

something to do with funding, pride & software infrastructure is easiest, but it’s worthless if no one uses it & its arguably saturated so builders move on to the next big broad blanket yet everyone lunches a chain & token before the game & integrates financial systems before game systems hardware is next in line as you can create a storefront & ecosystem which is seemingly a decent use case for a token, then do things like community/social & identity, etc. we now have advanced hardware wallets, phones, entire consoles… but nothing to do on them; there’s no need for a crypto-native device when an everyday device already works just fine for its current applications no one wants to build risky consumer apps for consumers that don’t really exist yet everyone wants to raise a bunch of money & build… something… so we end up here ie. no new entrants, no new hooks, just a bunch of ~things~ that less than a few thousand dedicated people will ever tinker or play with

i love how the question of mcbain ended up giving you the space to say what you really wanted to say with the original cast do you see this changing on the middle term?

i mean at some point it simply must we’re def starting to see new projects take different approaches like polymarket or icebreaker etc only a matter of time before a game hits but without a game that’s recognized by the gaming community as a game & is played, first & foremost, by gamers, there is just no reason for dedicated hardware like this to exist (honestly there may not be a time ever where this makes sense; especially if it’s a requirement for some types of games… its just another barrier for players)

What about plugging into an existing gaming ecosystem. So adding social and financial stuff to open games that people already play ?

yeah, but the games must come first. there’s no point in building an ecosystem layer for a game library that doesn’t exist yet. the meme is an eco token that acts as in-game currency across titles for an existing library of games. so it’s a launcher as a platform, or it’s a storefront. it’s a dedicated chain like xai, a platforms like hyperplay, or a universal token like treasure. in this case, it would be a social layer as a platform, ie. farcaster. so farcaster would become the launcher & community platform via the social graph. it would become a launcher likely through a dedicated client, that would look similar to the discovery page on warp, except it would be a bunch of games. then the feed would be for dedicated community channels & discussion. then the in-game currency might be degen or ham or whatever. so to start now all games playable through this client would automatically connect to your wallet, auto pull your pfp & friends into the game & allow you to boast about scores/stats on tl
