There’s a huge backlash against social progressivism now ongoing that should have been foreseeable. Progressives pushed too hard and too fast, never bothering to consolidate their gains or even check if people were still with them. On top of that they also attempted to impose a reign of terror and purging which inevitably was going to burn itself out and alienate even their usual allies. This is not to say what is coming is going to be good and I fear we’re going to see the imposition of a particularly bad oligarchy. But this situation did not come about in a vacuum. Now that the reign of terror is over it’s also become possible to even discuss it.

Wholeheartedly disagree. Almost nothing about 2024 USA was progressive.

Agree. Overreach and litmus tests central to the project... But we're seeing MAGA make the same mistakes so idk, could be resurgent in the next four years tbh

I have a bias for watching too much US news, so I agree with what your saying (and especially about the potential bad oligarchy incoming). In your opinion: is this isolated to the US or are we also seeing it in the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Brazil, etc? (I.e. pendulum shifting from the left to the hard right)

To what progressive issues are you referring? In the USA, at least, there has been a 10-year trend toward conservative popular policy, but I mostly chalk that up to the culmination of a multi-decade campaign of fear by the Republican party - repeal of abortion rights and overblown concerns about immigration. What progressive wins predicated this? Affordable Care Act in 2010? Gay marriage legalization in 2015?

Like the rest of your comments, I'm also super confused about what you mean about too hard and too fast and the rein of terror... this sounds like something Fox News would claim without any evidence or context.
