NEW: A lengthy investigation by Drop Site based on leaked top secret reports, diplomatic cables, and interviews informed sources reveals that the Pakistani military government has secretly granted permission for China to develop a military base at the critical naval port of Gwadar. China has long coveted Gwadar as a strategic launch pad for its military in the Indian Ocean, which would allow it to resist attempts to blockade its energy flows amid a war with the U.S. and also give it the power to inflict reciprocal blockades on Western energy shipping if it chose. Under former PM Imran Khan, Pakistan had resisted creation of such a base as a sacrifice of sovereignty. But since Khan was deposed by the military, which has otherwise tried to rebuild ties with the U.S., they have felt privately pressured to give China this concession and have asked for military and economic support to insulate themselves from the backlash. https://www.dropsitenews.com/p/pakistan-promised-china-new-military-base

This is a welcome development. Let's see how happy the US would be, since they don't mind having bases in other countries

I'm pretty ignorant about all this, does this have anything to do with India? They don't seem on the best terms with either of their big neighbors rn
