From “Chip War” by Chris Miller. WWII was won by American manufacturing. It should worry Americans that a rival country is the manufacturing superpower of the world today.

there's a book on WWII that goes into the specifics of the RAF production rate compared to the personnel available, and considering how the Battle of Britain effected a chain of events that decided the war, I do have a very healthy respect for just building a bunch of things at a frantic tempo.

Yup, both chips and the natural resources. Indonesia is one of the most fascinating countries geopolitically from an industrialization perspective along with Guyana (energy) as well

To add to that, the manufacturing superpower is a communist country, which makes it much scarier. Two-thirds of the world's population doesn't know what living under communist regimes is like. I hope they never have to find out. When I hear people in Western Europe or the US praising Russia and China, I get shivers. They have no clue. Freedom has become underrated these days, and I hope people start appreciating it again asap...
