Agree. I am hoping for a last minute step-down & candidate swap... this is a rumor I have heard but no idea if it's just wishful thinking or based on any seed of truth.

Do you think that would be enough though? I feel like there needs to be an incubation period, where people get behind someone for real rather than the party hand selecting his successor

I agree 100%. Although I've heard a lot of fans of such a plan, I think it would be foolish. 

Trying to remember the names of the candidates being speculated to step up if this happens...

That said, it still seems to be the alternative lol

That sounds right. I was overhearing this popular theory from a group of lawyer colleagues. I don't recall who they thought would be VP candidate. Not Kamala for sure.
