Life hack: Consistently appreciate 'basic' technologies "Wait, so you're saying I just have to turn this handle, and a targeted stream of hot water will rain down upon me, cleanse me, relax me, then go into this hole without damaging the house?" Plumbing is GOAT tech. What basics do you regularly appreciate?

Agreed upon language/symbols , counting systems, and boats/stuff to float down a river/cross water without getting wet. Also the compass to find your way.

Retro technology: vinyl, manual transmissions, 90s video games, etc In an era of dopamine and automation, it's nice to have a change of scenery.

Fire, cooking, and language. Very useful technologies, and arguably the technologies from which all others are bootstrapped.

Toilet too in the plumbing sector. Gas stoves. US stoplight / road system. Certainly not perfect but steel boxes closely fly by each other at 60 mph. Pretty crazy we don't run into each other more frequently.

Literally everything. 99.9% of things I have no idea how they’re made or how they work. Probably missing some 9s there too.

Electricity. A thing (like water) moving far away from your home, makes thing move IN your home. Instantly.

Don't know if this counts as basic but really appreciate the design of usb charging Turns out the brick and device can somehow communicate the optimal voltage and if it fails, it defaults to the safer voltage instead of fast charging
