the true irony is that they need to freeze customer accounts because of the stupid AML/KYC regs with which they're complying, and it goes without saying that those regs don't actually prevent money laundering in any way. same shit with my bank, daily/weekly limits for moving funds as well as individual/cumulative purchases, can be arbitrarily locked anytime, etc.

Regs compliance to me and breaking up a send over a few days far far different to me than account freezes lasting many months with 0 clue why and no recourse

yeah I think their resolution process for those restrictions needs improvement to me it’s all the same shit though. in canada we have what’s called FINTRAC regulations and this week I learned that you can’t make a purchase more than $5000 with a chequing account unless the merchant accepts wires. truly bonkers.

I am ultimately fine with this because while the rule itself may be nonsensical it’s clearly communicated and easy to obey What triggers these multi month acct reviews is an opaque mystery …….
