for anyone curious: hot cacao is a powder with sugar added which is mixed with hot water or milk. the consistency is therefore fairly thin, but can be quick and tasty. hot chocolate aka drinking chocolate is flakes or chunks of real chocolate (not cacao powder) which are then melted and mixed with heated milk. the texture is way thicker and can be served as an intense shot or more of a latte consistency. unlike cacao mixes, drinking chocolate is available in a variety of high-quality chocolates from milk (< 50%) to dark (70-80%), single origin i.e. specific varietals/lots, mixed with spices like chili, etc.

Until very recently I didn't know - until one of the guys at the blockchain meetup was also jobbing at the local chocolate shop. So that's how I learned that 80% of cocoa worldwide is form one variety. But it's not the best. Unfortuantely I forgot the name of the one he recommended -but I'll definitely go back to the shop to find out. The Dark Hot Chocolate is so thicc, it's borderline a pudding ^^
