3yo does not seem to be anywhere close to understanding that if she spends time on some things that there will be less time for other things. I know I know a lot of adults struggle with this ha ha but seriously: any tips? Or experience with when this comes online?

3yo is too early for proper time management. they still don't have cognition of time passing. I started with hourglasses at 4/5 years to make them realise that they have to complete a task within a certain timeframe. we have hourglasses with different sand colours ranging from 1, 5, 10, 15, 30 min.

It's been a process of lots of painful learning experiences and frustration, followed by explanations about the impact of choices.

Agree to early to understand time. I mean adults don't get it. Does it even exist? Also: Try lego. Give her 10 lego pieces she can exchange for certain activities. Some stuff (longer activity) will costs more lego pieces. If she has no more lego pieces, it's time to sit on the couch and watch paint dry.
