People have complained about Spotify lacking good social features forever What would a truly social music platform look like?

SoundCloud? IMO I don't know that it needs to be more social than that. The social attempts by Spotify have not made the listener experience any better, they just added features that distract from the listening...

just random thoughts but: - playlist portability (from other platforms, formats, etc.) - greater collaborative playlist admin (maybe too crypto brained but token gated access & permissions/rights) - private/public notes you can add to albums & tracks

I think it could be something like Zora, where you can have your own account with your music, playlists and to be directly supported by your fans.

A way for people to interact around songs/artists they love? Spotify is really “single player” - there’s no way for community to form around music.

themed “subreddits” with 24/7 listening rooms (what /campfire wants to be when it grows up) algorithmic track or album recs based on your social graph ability to send a track to someone or some group (literally no way to do this on Spotify aside from shared playlists) ability for an artist to communicate with their fanbase in any way whatsoever (sell tix, merch, etc.) 😅

Space where your digital items feel the same emotionally as physical vinyls. Ability to see which records you have in common with your friends. Varying rarities to demonstrate how big a fan/holder you are of specific songs and artists. Easy ability to earn from "reposts" via collecting to your social graph. Have lots more thoughts here but these are some off the cuff :)
