Today is Day One at my new job – the first time I’ve had full-time employment in 22 months. This past chapter was a mix of contracting, freelancing, bootstrapping, tinkering, advising, and general exploring. It is true that not all who wander are lost, but at many times throughout this period, I felt that way. After being laid off in June 2023, just six months into my job, I needed a break from corporate life and felt destined to explore more independent paths. The past two years have been stimulating yet professionally isolating, full of possibilities but devoid of structure. I’m excited about the new constraints I’ve chosen for myself.

unfortunately this is probably against the T&S of most recipe sites (ingredients are fair use but the written instructions often aren't), but many apps fly under the radar if they aren't diverting too much traffic the whole online recipe space is a mess since they rely on SEO + ads for monetization but it's obviously a worse UX source: worked on a recipe scraping app for two years and faced significant issues

Honestly, I find both Warpcast and X overwhelming. There is so much content and information on the timeline, some of it useful, some of it not, and all of it careening for my attention. At the same, time, I know that some of the people on here are some of the coolest motherfuckers on the planet. Creating /beings-club was a response to this experience. I want to meet you, I want to be curious, and I want to be in conversation. I just want to do it on my terms. I want to go deep, connect meaningfully, and then rest. As much as I am grateful for the connections I've made through scrolling, it often drains me. Was sick for much of last week so didn’t exercise much but picked up a reading habit :) I also didn’t work last week and it seems like I’ve tied meditation to “starting the day” 🧐 Interested to see what happens this week now that I’m back home and starting a new job!

Farcaster has been a tremendous home for me these past two years. This community has introduced me to lifelong friends and future collaborators, and encouraged me to see myself as a builder more than just a thinker. While I’ll be spending less time here going in the near future, it is far from goodbye. Many of the things I’ve worked on (including @firstdraftclub) were designed for this exact scenario – to continue humming along even if I couldn’t give it my full attention. I have much more to say, but to those reading this: thank you for being part of my journey.
