You probably know about the Mississippi River meander maps from the 1940s?

I certainly do. Same kind of unearthly beauty, even if it's a side effect of a scientific method of mapping and coloring.

Robert Hodgin did an Artblocks piece based on the meander maps, bringing his technical genius for replicating organic systems. "Ancient Courses of Fictional Rivers", it was called.
