Allowance system is changing again. Who in the community are the DEGEN team listening to? Almost everyone I’ve talked to really likes the new allowance system. It’s not a good look to continue changing things so rapidly. It gives me major “we’re trying to fix the current downtrend in price” vibes. Did we really even give the new @openrank allowance system enough time to cook before deciding to try something else?

Depends on what Jacek replaces the system with. But I agree: it's a bad look to abandon the current regime for a "fix the price" gimmick. Unless J is getting feedback from OR that it /cannot/ cope with these smarty pants farmers, I'd keep it in place and try a hybrid approach. staking + openrank + manual checks

Agreed that I enjoy the current system cause I get a solid allocation, yet i think they’ve identified some probable token farmers in the higher ranks. Anyway a bit surprised they hadn’t landed on staking as a /skininthegame approach earlier, bonk rewards have been employing 6 mo. staking multipliers since the start of the year. It’s a natural way to show commitment.

IMO. I think they do it quick asap, before things went worse. The declining price of $Degen itself is the reflection of disappointment from the community itself.

I agree that they trying to fix it so fast is a sign of bad faith in the players, us, that made them. Its also not reassuring to have such drastic changes so fast, part of our game is to plan ahead. I wonder what will come of it. 42 $degen (while I still can 💜)

Very good point, I don't think I've seen anyone complain about the allowance system as of late either... I also agree that we should let new changes run for at least a season's length & assess after that. I guess we'll see what's really going on soon than later.

You bring up some good points in this thread. Let's hope that length of HODL takes precedence over the amount held...I don't think the goal is to make the rich get richer. As the price decreases, it makes it easier for farmers to add 10k degen to a wallet, create a new account and farm the project...then dump any extra they make after claiming. By factoring in the length of time held or adding a staking mechanism it would counteract that farming scheme a bit, although the farmers will just find a new way to exploit the system, it's unfortunate but just a reality. I do like the new system because I get a steady allocation of 1k, we'll see how it may affect legit users.

to me it looks like removing powerbadge users removes an element that isn't controlled by 'degen' which could be positive cos it allows the degen team to have more control and disconnect from the negative sentiment currently surrounding the pb but also a negative because it's looking like the symbiotic relationship between wc + degen is breaking apart looking at the dune query, it just looks like they took a snapshot and anyone who gets a pb from today onwards won't be entitled to the 1k bonus allocation (to prevent gaming of the system potentially?)

Tbh outside the top ~200 the open rank allowance clearly isn’t working, that’s why they had to apply a flat 1000 to all us low-rank plebs 😂 I like that they’re trying to make it fair. This needs to be the last reboot for a while though.

Yeah, I'm liking the current system, but am biased because my allowance is decent. As someone with an OK following handing out 50 $degen last season sucked. I think too many projects are concerned with weeding out the farmers (SN, ZK) that they cut real users with the same broad strokes. Either cut the big farmers manually, or leave it be and let the chaos reign. 100 $degen

I think with the current allo system, the 10k holders should get more than 5 degen minimum so that they can participate more substantially in the tipping ecosystem.. coz 5 degen is just way too low.. even less than 500 would be a low allowance tbh..
