“whether you knew it or not” 🤦‍♂️ The Tony Fadell-designed Ledger Stax looks neat. Bummer that now I won’t consider it

There is no actual trustless solution, everything has flaws to its model. The distribution of exploits and probability of that exploit being worth it to go through are far more important. In 12 years I’ve never used anything more than a standard eoa wallets and I port my seed around all over.

There is no way around for Ledger. Credibility is gone, which was their main selling point.

It is true, you have always trusted Ledger. This was part of their trust model

Um I knew it, and I trusted them not to do it…. Because they said they wouldn’t?

I think the biggest mistake they made was not releasing the new recovery option as a new hardware model, even if technically it doesn't need to be new hardware

The way they have communicated this is certainly very inappropriate. Web3 runs on trust. If trust is gone, you lose everything. Waiting for Ledger to clarify if this really makes the system more vulnerable to hacking even if you opt-out of the recover feature.

Comms are terrible and they should not have made false promises, but at the end of the day firmware will always have access to the things it needs to to do its job (speaking to pre-recovery). I am really hoping to get some solid technical details vs combative AMAs.
