maybe there's no direct economic purpose to kill/defend/deter, yet at the same time I can see money circulating, so it's nth-order. also not a fan of the cost disease, which is an oligopoly problem.

this is the eternal debate between normative & positive realities. imho, this leads to the concept of a cost of hegemonic influence for the sake of economic benefit (i.e. "trading unmolested"). if Thanos or Dr. Manhattan snapped away all weapons, there'd still be other negative externalities. but we live w/ ourselves.
