White Lotus season 3 has wrapped. Thoughts? Keep it spoiler free for a few days at least. Yes - it is the weakest season, but it was still the best thing on TV. Unlike 1 & 2, a couple of the storylines in 3 were a bust, but the ones that worked made up for it. The girls trip and Gaitok & Mook stories felt like filler.

Gaitok was one of my favorite characters this season. His internal struggle was refreshing. Alas, I wanted him to win how he wanted to win 💔. Since we’re avoiding spoilers, I hope that made sense.

Lost me after episode 3. HBO (yes I said it) tries too hard to be controversial. The plot was slow, many holes and generally was not entertaining. That said, Walter Gobbins is a G.

It’s unfortunate that Gaitok, Mook, and Pornchai felt like filler characters, considering the minimal cultural representation outside of the Western perspective on Thailand and Buddhist teachings. None of their meals represented the country. Alas, the show is about watching privileged people go on vacation at 5-star resorts that cater to a Western audience. Luckily, the "good guys" ended up on top this season. It would be too much to educate and entertain the audience without going beyond 8 episodes.
