What are your thoughts on JD Vance’s speech in Munich? No real solutions but he identified some genuine problems so those parts shouldn’t just be dismissed IMO.

Feels a bit silly to extent to which they are trying to withdrawal with multilateralism

I watched the Vance speech, all 20 minutes. And I am not sure what you try to say with the statement above.

More of a general comment, but in that speech he was making the point that he wants USA to be #1 and well ahead of everyone else. More broadly they’re withdrawing from the basics of international diplomacy like the G20. I understand how trying to get more out of allies can be valid eg on NATO, Ukraine. I understand how withdrawing from things like WHO can be valid, but I disagree that it’s the best way to achieve Trump’s goals even if he simply wants them to stop existing. But I don’t see the point in isolating the country so much, even if you want to be a sovereign decisioinist https://www.noemamag.com/trump-as-sovereign-decisionist

In the speech that I watched, none of what you attribute above has been said. G20, NATO, WHO, none of those words have been used. You are not reporting on what has been said, but rather express all the layers of abstraction going on in your own mind and interpretation. All our preferences aside, let's be accurate please. Vance highlighted how important shared values are. And my understanding was rather that we are stronger united. Vance pointed out that Europe has to take a hard look in the mirror in order to stay competitive and relevant. And he also pointed out that deviating opinions can't just be silenced in a democracy. He talked about the enemies within. And so, our different perception of a 20 minute speech is a fantastic display of bias across the entire spectrum. And I am not saying I am free from bias here, but my takeaways have actually something to do with the things that have actually been said in that speech, whereas none of your takeaways have been part of that content that I saw.
