As somebody in the biz (not gmaps), we do not decide what things are named. We just compile various official sources and ingest them into the map data. Very, VERY, rarely do we manually decide what things should be called. I have no love for trump or google, but what exactly should google do in this situation?

So, what you’re saying is Trump could make an EO and change the name of any place in the world and google would change that on maps accessed in the US?

Is your issue that a prominent feature was renamed, or that it was Trump who did it (and for arbitrary reason/s)? Yes, google and other providers show the name that is 'officially' accepted by the local country in most cases.
