Why are there so many leftists within crypto? As Solana says in his bankless episode, crypto disintermediates and reduces the power of the state. I get why libertarians and rightists like crypto, but why leftists? Leftists should want state power to enact leftist policy goals if they care about leftist outcomes.

I feel many mistake a left political leaning = wanting a nanny state. I don't think that is the case and I'd love to see some more nuanced discussions around it. 

Personally, I probably fall more to the left, but I certainly don't dismiss the necessity of freedom of the individual and markets as mechanisms to govern certain outcomes.

ok: you’re operating in bad faith by refusing to look at historical analogies and using a story as the basis of your political analysis (i believe you’d call that straw manning my man), one that isn’t set up as a counter factual (if) but as a certainty (when) because a priori you’re assuming a system way more robust than it is fragile and a series of nebulous actors you don’t identify (“when people talk…”) doing that thang again with the straw man, rather than, like, engaging with the many, many scholars and thinkers on fascism who’re like: this guy checks all the fascist boxes, he’s a fascist.

i invite you back to the bottom of the pyramid. it’s just: your media intake/historical analysis is obviously coloring your embedded understanding of events, which makes sense, but the silly absolutism and tech-bro confidence is as tiring as it is uninspired. 🤷🤷🤷

It’s difficult because the central point bakes a TON of assumptions into it.

Are there “so many” leftists in crypto?  How many is so many? Are they over represented vs population? I don’t know.

Assuming you mean more than 0 because you think crypto is a right-leaning technology, but can a technology really have a political slant? You might say “because outcomes will be more right” but if I take a bunch of guns to redistribute wealth, then I used a “right tech” to make a “left outcome”.  Personally I think ascribing a political affiliation to a technology silly.

Finally - what is “left” and “left outcome”.  You have left this as n exercise for the reader but there are some “left outcomes” that an individual “leftist” might not want to happen.  Neatly fitting everything into two boxes might work for a short post, but it doesn’t work for a nuanced discussion. Assuming that’s what you want, you could mention some of those outcomes in your question.
