Do Americans still care about due process? Honest question. I have only been lightly following this El Salvador prison stuff and wondered what the Americans on here thought. I remember trying to describe the importance of due process to Philippinos when Duterte started rounding up people, and most didn’t care. They just wanted the streets “clean”. Duterte ended up being the most popular president of the modern era.

Saagar is arguing against due process here. All the libertarians who spent 4 years screaming about double standards and Hunter Biden are silent, as expected. I shudder to think how much of the US population shares this perspective. Truly a society in decline https://warpcast.com/marvp/0xcd6ed9df

No, not really. Some large % doesn’t understand these rights at all so they don’t know what they are losing. Some other % is happy to see the authoritarian hammer being swung for their team. I understand I am powerless here so I don’t really get too upset.

First off: it's awful, and innocent people are going to be / have been caught up in this persecutory action. But, until the hand wave of "non-residents are not entitled to US rights" to dismiss legal objections to and criticisms of treating people like this is resolved, the legal gap that allows it will continue.

There are too many of us who don’t. And too few of us who do. :(
