The entire community practically a knows who is who, and I have been told how much this holds kids back because everyone is judging immediately on a distant cousin, sister, etc. 

Benefits are a deep interdependence on family. Outside of that I feel way more drawbacks to include the interdependence.

How close is the community? 

If close, what are the benefits and drawbacks of everyone knowing each other? 

What are some pros and cons of living there vs a more active area like a suburb or city?

I never thought much of seasonal depression. This is the first time I learned how much benefit living in Miami, FL could be because of constant sun.

I now take pictures every time the sun peeks out. Like this morning.

We aren’t living here for good. We wanted to hang with some friends and learn something new for our family. 

We’ve visited here twice before, the feel of small towns is whimsical and magical, I’ve learned.

what was the reason you wanted to move your family to a small town?

At 5-6pm the drop off is very real. Besides that not bad id think.

After having a very rough nomadic start and caught in a crappy LA Airbnb situation, we decided to try a familiar place (internet friends lived here, we visited before) that was also foreign. Some serendipity played into it. Like cards on-hand. 

Gave the family a place to reconvene a bit.

Yes.

No, the conversations in small towns are very much wrapped in insecurities I’ve felt. Making null the trade off between “knowing” everyone and knowing no-one.  

The family business feel does give it the cool connection/rapport. At individual level, much is left desired.

Do you bump into the same people over and over again, and has it made you create connections/rapport with strangers that you otherwise wouldn’t in a big city?

Busch Light is the local preference it seems. 🤢

Haven’t seen/attended many but we always love Halloween + local fire fighters.

Driving through Christmas lights in such a small town is cool. Oh the the annual Christmas parade.

Our daughter was on a “float” for the first time. Our Ballerina.

What is your favorite local community event?
