wish we had a home buying channel. thinking of moving on our first house but i feel out of sorts here.

what sort of concerns/issues are holding you back from taking the leap?

we want to take the leap. so it’s not that. it’s just making sure it’s “right” since buying a house isn’t something you do all the time lol

so like are we buying something we’re gonna get surprised screwed on later, how much % to put down etc

I would emphasize that you should put down as much as you can afford, and buy a place that is already perfect and doesn't need renovation. 

In my opinion, keeping your monthlies low is more valuable than any sort of money optimization strategy folks might suggest.

Holy shit @dennison is cooking here, said everything I wanted to and more. I personally don't vibe with the (very popular) mindset "don't pay off your 5% loan if you can earn 6%" or whatever. I'm happier having lower+fewer monthly commitments.
