Nashville

Considering a move to Nashville from Asheville (I know) in October.

Tips, advice, or recs?

Nice! How would you describe Germantown?

Haven’t done a ton of research but Germantown and East Nashville seem like top contenders neighborhood-wise.

i lived in Germantown for a year! i thought it was a good city for what i needed at the time. the vibes are very neighborhood specific, so definitely select for that.

Myself + my fiancée, both 29

Like: Hiking, cycling, live music, art, bars/breweries, restaurants, coffee, book stores, record shops, vintage.

AVL’s great but tiny and quiet.

Looking for more activity (concerts, events, socializing in general) and comp cost of living while still having some options for weekend hikes, swimming holes, etc.

Prev lived in Boston for 10 yrs.

Advice: do it.

I would say rent an Airbnb for a month maybe in two different neighborhoods to get a feel for things. 

We thought we wanted to be in East Nashville but ended up moving to Sylvan Park because of some of our lifestyle preferences.

East Nashville is great. It has the same "cool" reputation in town that Brooklyn has (and the hipsters to show for it).

Most underrated thing about Nashville is the airport + ease to fly around the country. Its less than a 2.5 hr flight from NYC, Miami, Austin, Chicago & Denver
