Do design reviews ever benefit from formality? Seems like lower-stakes, conversational sessions are always more enjoyable for everyone involved and lead to better (and more creative) feedback + ideas

We moved to an open bi-weekly “Design Jam” where anyone can share something they want feedback on or we collaborate on larger projects in a rare synch format. The team has been much more aligned, collaborative, and is producing better quality work as a result.

Love it! Does "open" apply to all designers, or cross-functional team members too?

Cross-functional—It’s mostly the design team but we get occasional visits from marketing and engineering. On the off weeks, I’ve set up a cross-functional session for more scrutinized design discussions/presentarions with product and engineering.
