a few months ago, i wound up at a dinner with a bunch of serial entrepreneurs with successful exits (honestly idk how i was there) when asked what they're optimizing for in life, they all said "having fun with great people, building something we're proud of" and i still think about it every day

Radio Jockey mini app 1. Open mini app and tap "Go Live" 2. Once live, only buttons are 1) share 2) mute toggle 3) end 3. One way audio broadcast, i.e. no Clubhouse style chat or audience, no video 4. Useful for walk and talks

This isn’t a link. It's not something you click through. It’s a window. Something you look through. It doesn’t take you somewhere else. It opens and lets the world in. It brings things closer to you. Not out there, but right here. Where your friends already are. The people you care about. The things they make, and say, and share. It’s not called a "mini app." It’s called a "Frame." We frame things we love. To see them clearly. To set them apart. To remember them. We frame things that are beautiful. And somehow it always makes them look a little better. Because the frame is how we say: "this is something worth seeing."

quick note: i’ve been so busy that i haven’t had a chance to express how excited i am for FarCon NYC next week. a year ago, @erica, @mcbain and a whole crew of us were on calls daily, running around like crazy, sleep deprived and nervous to host everyone for FarCon 2024 in Venice. the amount of energy that goes into an experience like this is indescribable because it is driven exclusively by an irrational love for the community; there’s no other explanation why any of us would undertake it. and the love @esteez.eth has put into farcon NYC is next level; she deserves a all the shout outs and all the thank yous for what i know will be another incredible FarCon experience to come. the best part, as always, will be the people. candidly, it’s been pretty lonely for me since i’ve started at farcaster — and i know the magic of our community and the charm of springtime in nyc is the perfect antidote :) TLDR: grateful for each of you, esp @esteez.eth, and can’t wait to see some of you soon xx

Seems like doing the rebrand ahead of millions of new base users onboarding to Farcaster would be worth it To avoid explaining the rebrand to millions of new users who don’t know about Farcaster yet

Near-term changes to help Farcaster grow Everything below will help make it easier for people who hear about Farcaster to get started as quickly as possible and hopefully stick around. 1. Likely rebranding Warpcast to Farcaster; no final decision and if/when that's made we will have a clear public plan / communication 2. Base is launching a Farcaster feed in Coinbase Wallet to their millions of existing users 3. Improving cross-client and web client UX for Sign in with Farcaster and mini apps through "auth addresses"; for the average user that don't need to know anything about this other than they won't be constantly prompted to open their phone when using mini apps 4. Sign ups for most people will be free 5. Post sign up, helping new users get the most relevant feed based on their interests; we will also help them fund their wallet 6. Better sharing for mini apps — links that render nicely on other social media and in messaging apps, automatic deeplinking into apps 7. Warpcast Wallet on web

"continue" might be the worst-named keyword in python. Like, consider this code: for i in range(100): if i % 5 == 0: continue print(i) It prints out numbers that are not multiples of 5. But if you give it to someone who is not experienced in python, they might think the exact opposite!

As an aside: I'd like to see Warpcast (and any wallet that supports mini apps) adopt a standard for common and well-understood onchain actions, e.g. sending USDC. So instead of 1) Approve 2) Send as two pop ups, consolidate into one with clear language (and assuming you're doing the security scanning and offering a more advanced user the ability to inspect). Imagine having to swipe your credit card twice when paying for a coffee.

A few tips for mini app devs: 1. Simplify screens 2. Bigger buttons / touch targets 3. Remove unnecessary crypto complexity (or hide it in an advanced view) I'm using the excellent @crowdfund mini app as an example below. 1. Consider moving anything optional to after you complete the primary action, so in this case the comment would come after the donation 2. Make the primary action -- adding an amount -- big, front and center 3. USDC + logo, the wallet selected are not useful for 95% of people 4. The available balance is useful, so consider making that a clear secondary piece of info 5. Make the primary button big and easy to tap on a mobile device.
