A common way designs fail is the designer eliminates "ugliness" from the design too early, before they understand the space.

Similar to Andy Grove's famous management quote — “Let chaos reign, then rein in chaos”.

The chaos and ugliness hold great ideas — if you can tolerate them long enough.

I recently found out that Chad, someone I went to high school with, and his family lost their home in the Palisades Fire. They didn’t have insurance, which has made this situation even more difficult for them.
