They probably haven’t felt the rush of coming out tenfold on a calculated risk. I doubt anyone is truly allergic to easy money once rationalized a certain way. You can’t get mad at the average crypto trader for trying to make the most of the hands they’re dealt. But you can surely get mad at grifters who knowingly defraud audiences and show that intentional scams come with little consequence or accountability in this space. Scammers gonna scam, gamblers gonna gamble, but they’re not one and the same at all.

their existence, success, or failure, are immaterial to avg human quality of life--feels like a net zero waste of time on a societal level

honestly i'm in 2 minds about it most call them scams for obvious reason but then there's pure memecoins like doge which imo is easily a top 5 coin in fundamentals. most "memecoins" are not that and the whole system from how coins get launched to trading tools is a monopoly/semi-decentralised casino. i see that point but in saying that, there is a lot to learn from memecoin teams in terms of the power of attention in crypto and how simple memes can move markets i don't like that the craze is turning away good devs and attracting scammers
