In one chapter he talks about how he was almost killed during the occupation because the Nazis wanted to confiscate his tarps, and he said no. As cheesy as it sounds, these little stories make me feel really lucky to be alive.

Pages 46-54 is what I would really really really love to read. Is it written in hindsight or did he keep logs/diary that ended up being this? I wonder how these events were lived when people didn’t know how they played along the greater arc of history.
