Being ignorant to Canadian democracy, is it possible to form coalitions as in other parliamentary systems? Is that a possibility here?

Yep. Typically the Liberals and NDP get together. If their total is 172, it could work. That said, minority governments rarely last long in Canada. The NDP can basically hijack the government. If they don't get what they want, they side with the other parties for a no-confidence vote. Then we have another election.
