Was talking to a founder friend yesterday who has looked into using FC as part of their gtm (they are a crypto infra co) He said the team came to the conclusion that 80% of the folks they could target here, they can get by targeting CT, hence it would be mostly redundant spend with little ROI I countered that it’s not the intersection that matters, but the difference. Meaning — the 20% of folks that are active here, but not active on Twitter, are the highest value cohort Reason being — it’s a different culture. This culture values authenticity and showing up for each other more than the general crypto population. Smaller quantity but much higher quality He grokked it but I could tell it would still be hard for him to get buy-in from the rest of his team. Sadly, I think this realization doesn’t scale well, but needs to be experienced or learned via wom from a trusted party Not sure how best to communicate “the vibes” other than one person at a time cc @kia.eth the resident vibe lord

"This culture values authenticity and showing up for each other more than the general crypto population" on top of this being hard to prove (plenty of people have launched stuff/tried to market stuff on here and not received support) isn't this a function of it just being a smaller crowd? it's easy to show up when the bar for showing up is the same 100 hyper-active users

I mean, yeah People are nicer in small towns because they will likely run into you again Doesn’t mean they don’t gossip about you when you’re not there, or that there aren’t problems with the town But as @ccarella.eth said, this group is very supportive of people who are earnestly building things

I'd say the community is generally supporting if you're "earnestly building + saying the right things" I say this as someone with experience building on the platform who knows I would receive more support and exposure for my product if I kept my mouth shut about critiquing certain things the Merkle team has done, kept my mouth shut about critiquing Ethereum, and tried to appeal to the tastemakers of the scene here by constantly praising the concept of Farcaster but I don't like holding back my opinions so I say what I want to say and build what I want to build and I'm ok with the fact I won't get the same treatment as people that jump through hoops to display "Farcaster alignment" but that's worth mentioning to your friends because if their product isn't a Farcaster product...building on here will not be as neutral as building on twitter, they will need to play the political game to get the most out of it

I feel you but I don’t have that same experience with Merkle, I’ve been critical of several things publicly and I find them more receptive than 90% of startups in their position I agree it’s harder to call things out here, but that’s not bc of Merkle. As an example, Degen people did not like me shitting on the L3 I flagged it in order to caution people from aping, but most of my criticisms were unheeded until the downtime / reorg fiasco
