I think the advice “remain calm” is usually interpreted with a moral valence, i.e. large displays of emotion are not proper. 

It’s good advice outside of morality, because remaining calm on some level allows you to better understand the appropriate and decisive response, but *importantly* the response itself doesn’t necessarily need to appear calm.

Yeah I find that kind of immediate othering response tends to be directly proportional to how much TV/ standard social media someone consumes. It’s rough for everybody.

I think they are angry at me for trying to figure out what is true and not. Everyone feels quite radicalized in different ways, and there’s so much disinformation / fog of feed. But to doubt is to be tagged as “other” - so apparently I’m a democrat, Republican, neoreactionary, socialist, etc etc depending on who I’m taking to
