I’ve had a strong emotional reaction to this claim of being able to teach any 2y/o to read at a 2nd grade level. I support pursuing incredible things but don’t understand how you can believe in the heritability of iq and this, too.

Can kids do more than we currently believe? YES

If you have the aptitude, you will start to learn reading at that age almost through osmosis, anyway. It will come to you naturally.

I think kids need to be allowed to just be kids and learn through play at age 2, not be taught to read.

Well ok. In honesty I was this early reader, which also adds bias to my view.  my mom told me that as a a pre verbal baby if someone went to read to me and the book was upside down, I would “fix it”. I don’t know, however, how you transform that into an edu approach. I believe reading is my God given gift 😬

I did a course on development during my psych degree and it was learning about what is the appropriate age to learn XYZ

There are physical limitations like the standard 2 yr olds tongue is not physically developed yet so they can’t talk 

I would be interested to know how they overcome some of these limitations

This is an awful idea.  Kids’ brains need to develop in a certain way.  Reading by 2nd grade is actually unimportant and detrimental
