One thing that does give me pause about nuclear is like …. do you trust any of these people pushing this stuff and running it to be honest with you in an accident? Reactor no 4 in Chernobyl exploded 3 days before they told anyone to get out of the surrounding area

A lot of the people running them in the US are gigabrain former Navy nuclear engineers. Trustworthy bunch.

Anecdotally, I've known 2 guys who are former nuke engineers for 10-15 years, don't have a single negative experience with either. (One is now building SMRs). They were thoroughly vetted by the FBI for their TS/SCI. The gov't spent a lot of $$$ training them, and they literally had to troubleshoot nuclear reactors deep under the ocean (exactly how deep is secret). I do trust that credential.
