I’m radicalized on the whole food issue. I believe the “F” in FDA is derelict in duty, legislators are captured, result is a sick, weak, nation subsisting on hyper palatable slop Problem is I do not have a productive place to channel this energy. Whining on x and Warpcast doesn’t count

I feel your pain. It’s actually a long term project my 3 partners at @noyore are working on, because it might be the biggest issue facing America Luckily you aren’t tackling it alone, folks like Dan Barber use high end dining to push policy ideals around sustainable and regenerative farming to rich New Yorkers

You have small grocery stores like Alameda Natural Grocery here in the Bay Area that help give platform to those regenerative farms to a lot more people across the Bay, otherwise not possible But the problem both of these of the groups of people face is scale. That comes from proper attention

You also have to fight against cost perception of people; why spend a little more than what you can buy at Walmart or Safeway when it’s just food. I think this is more of an opportunity for folks like us, not fighting against regulatory capture or political capture but creating entertainment that helps highlight

Why people should spend a little more on their food. It’s a long slog but when you have to fight against Frito-Lay backed by Monsanto the fight is going to be long and exhausting If your interested im sure @tcm can give more detailed thought on our approach

I would be interested yes in learning how you approach this problem I understand we need food science and processing to feed everyone, small scale will not solve everything I would be infinitely happier if, at a minimum, we tightened up the labels!

Uh @tcw ever the enthusiast… I think it’s a bit premature to know if our approach is any good, it’s a long 10 year + plan that we’re working on. I like that you want to tackle misinformation around food with labeling. I think for something like that your vector has to be simple like ours.

But our thesis is this - anything food related you must tackle with an informed person already looking to learn more because they care about cooking or clean food sources aka your ‘early adopters’ For us a reimagination of a cooking show is our starting point so we can help people choose regen farm for their food

So interesting! One thing I struggle with here, and I see this a lot in health too, is the ppl who are naturally interested the most, need the help the least Makes it a super tough maybe impossible nut to crack

That why you have to lean into entertainment - those that informed are rarely the best advocates so if you arm them with learning masked as entertainment it’s a lot easier for them to share and spread the message ie creating a network for TikTok chefs and their audience
