yeah when I was really depressed I used to repeat “one day at a time” like a maniac kind of helped but not a sustainable strategy in the long term unless you have a few years to live https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4166378/

i remember a line in Linklater’s Before Sunset about a guy with cancer diagnosis given 9 months to live. first reaction was relief because he knew he had enough money for nine months.
