What I am learning is that there is a large contingent of software engineers who use “anti woke” and “free speech” to excuse their low to no soft skills and antisocial behavior.

I think a large part of it is also just being too online and overestimating the political/media intelligence of successful figures in tech/business.

What do you mean? I just want people to behave pro-socially both online and offline. This is different than censoring wrongthink.

I think of Elon and how he serves to legitimize these ideologies, frame them as countercultural and a path for the 'enlightened'. So not only is it an excuse for antisocial tendencies, but it's reinforced when they see successful people in their field promote it because they assume their intelligence transcends fields.
