Is this unique allergy treatment groundbreaking — or fraud? https://undark.org/2021/04/28/unorthodox-allergy-clinic-disrupt-medicine/ “Something rubbed me the wrong way,” Neuman said of SoCal’s secrecy. “It flies in the face of most of the things that I believe about science. You know, if someone was sitting on a cure for cancer or Alzheimer’s and wasn’t sharing it, I’d be very suspicious.” Indeed, in interviews with Undark, numerous allergists expressed concern about the SoCal clinic’s approach, yet many hesitated to go on record criticizing a method that has not been published in a reputable, peer-reviewed journal.

🚩🚩🚩 Too much of this is proprietary, down to the in-house lab. The critiques around secrecy and publishing select studies in pay-to-play journals are absolutely valid. “The reviewers will say the same thing. They’ll say, ‘Well, we don’t understand this concept. We don’t understand the analytics,’” contrasted with the refusal to collaborate with groups like CoFAR and Mount Sinai makes me feel like they don't want people to look too closely at the process. The actual treatment described here does not seem that different from an elimination + rotation introduction diet, which isn't a new concept. Idk. Having been through a lot of allergy testing — old-school subcutaneous and contemporary skin tests — I know allergies need a better form of treatment, but I'm not sure this is it.

Have they been able to acquire the details of their treatment regimen and process And if not, what’s stopping them from doing that in order to properly verify what’s really going on

Ran into this on the other app as well about this, looks like it triggered the 'call investors' button. Allergy science is still very nascent. One of the problems Allergy research has is that it is grouped with asthma far too often. Asthma's (relatively) simpler mechanism and IgE mediation has shown great results with biologics. But allergy research is filled with confounders and no direct mechanism is still understood. To be frank, one of the issues is the field itself is lacking true direction, this is coming from someone who has had patients try tooth and nail to find a solution and go through rough times navigating it. ENTs, Neuro, Pulm even on top of A+I try to get a piece of the pie. Which is what then leads to gaps that SoCal FA and others use to target desperate patients as @iammatthias mentioned. https://x.com/sweatystartup/status/1827727669590470841

It might just be fraud tbh, in order to get more people in and make more money It might also be that they don’t want to share their solutions so they’d be able to monopolize the allergy care space
