A student is researching workplace abuse. Difficult to guide as she's experienced it (she's +40y). One of the learnings is that's heard to pinpoint (& it's not illegal to be a jerk). If you can't pinpoint it = ppl don't speak up. A list of stuff that your boss/peer shouldn't do. Plz add - yell - throw objects at you

You gotta learn how to document. At least in the US the burden is on the victim - keep a journal, document date/time of every transgression, and who witnessed it; have to show a history of this - know when you can and cannot record meetings e.g. single party vs both party consent - go to the doctor and report 🧵

They make you feel that you can be fired any day. And maintain that sense of insecurity in you. Blaming you for things you’re not responsible for. Asking if you’ve done something that was wasn’t your responsibility and expressing “disappointment” that you didn’t. Totally legal. Totally toxic.

9-5 is so yesterday and it’s exactly the kind of arrangement that makes the abuser. In that environment only sociopaths can survive. I want people to be their own bosses. Web3 can offer the possibility.

Gaslight, fail to share your team’s work/progress with their boss, default to “white boys only” club for leads, lie to your face when their boss is on the call, manipulate budgets and pad “contractors” who are friends. Weaponize personal info. Promote known shady mofos. Ive seen it all over the years.
