Here's what @tayken & I are really building at #thehumanlayer -- the antidote to extraction. At the intersection of ancient tantric wisdom and modern technology, a new class of creators is pioneering what we might call regenerative media—content creation and distribution systems that strengthen rather than deplete the human capacity for consciousness, connection, and collective intelligence. These "tantra technologists" aren't just building alternative platforms. They're applying sophisticated consciousness technologies that have sustained human wisdom traditions for millennia to create entirely new approaches to creative collaboration, audience relationship, and economic sustainability. In doing so, they may be developing the most effective antidote yet discovered to the attention extraction and behavioral manipulation that characterizes our current media landscape. https://cstreet.mirror.xyz/HS9noo2M8lROuK4zE7gwFx837iw5dFOSUiQ8-zkB5ak

So damn excited to drop this episode with Beth Rudden, CEO of Bast AI. @tayken & I poured a couple bourbons, fired up the /thehumanlayer mics in Denver and dove deep into Silicon Valley's black box approach to corporate AI, the dangers and possible solutions on the hyperlocal level. Beyond AI's Blackbox: Building Technology That Serves Humanity https://www.buzzsprout.com/2460445/episodes/17294785 Beth's decades of IT and data science experience at IBM along with a background in cognitive sciences grounded our conversation in a beautiful place of humanistic exploration-- and caution. We explored many SHOULDs, how LLMs should be built in a transparent, non-extractive way and how everyday people should interact with them along with some solutions for the reality that these "shoulds" are not a given.

How can we counterbalance Information Feudalism? Knowledge gardens. Hyperlocal news. Networks of wisdom built for resiliency. If surveillance capitalism is the disease, these networks are the immune system learning to recognize & resist extraction patterns. The knowledge commons rising from information feudalism's ashes don't look like traditional media. They look like gardens. Like ecosystems. Like mycorrhizal networks sharing nutrients in patterns too complex for any algorithm to optimize or any billionaire to buy. Each node small enough to be democratic. Each network large enough to be resilient. Each story preserved not for profit but for the same reason humans have always preserved stories: because they carry the medicine forward. https://cstreet.mirror.xyz/tK4YYvhVc6-WNjJMUO5K2qFh7X_Nr9BksgEuvrOKhHM
