Each time I've tried to create value for the farcaster network it's made me want to lean out. Incentives for builders feel broken - some sort of ability to participate in ownership in upsides would change my incentives and make me lean in. Why do only VCs get to participate in the upside of us participating here? I'm not the only one that feels this way

I think the problem is focusing on Warpcast, expecting to have the ownership that Farcaster enables. Until we stop building on Warpcast, builders will always be building for the VC's. They own Warpcast. We need that inflection point where Farcaster native experiences start overshadowing Warpcast, and the value trickles down to the VC's.

Is Warpcast data not completely distributed on farcaster? Is this creating a moat?

well, most of it. Not everything's fully decentralized, but it's going that way. But Warpcast is what has VC funding, so you know there has to be a payback for that so there will be value capture of some sort. Not saying that's inherently bad... but also saying that's the whole point of farcaster: we can be building directly on Farcaster and not be limited by the value prop of just Warpcast. Warpcast is on a laser focused mission to pay back their VCs, us profiting with them is only a component of that. This place could be way bigger than just a twitter feed with smart contracts. That's what's limiting us! Warpcast, VC's, and builders ALL win if we start going bigger than just Warpcast.

What are some ideas you are excited about for decentralized social? I feel like a 10x benefit is X but with algorithms as apps which allow users more choice in how their content gets curated.

Absolutely! @mbd is a great example of that functionality you described! User choice is the main unlock that excites me. Warpcast is great and they are dedicated to their algorithm, but what's important to them isn't what's important to me or anyone else, really. More choice, more experiments, more sovereign control over our online experience!
