Farcaster

Each time I've tried to create value for the farcaster network it's made me want to lean out. 

Incentives for builders feel broken - some sort of ability to participate in ownership in upsides would change my incentives and make me lean in. 

Why do only VCs get to participate in the upside of us participating here? 

I'm not the only one that feels this way

I might be imagining this, but didn’t they let some of the power users from the early days participate in one of the early venture rounds?

I think the argument is that this is a distraction (just grow the thing, don't create bureacratic work for yourself), but I do feel as though not aligning devs is just churning through ecosystem that could instead be leaning into growing the thing. Feels like bazaar vs cathedral, and warpcast has squarely chosen to enable only the warpcast cathedral with like a tiny cafeteria bazaar inside it

Not sure if now is the time, but I do think tokenizing control/ownership of the treasury and key levers like signup fee is the right move.

1. gives devs an incentive to build for the ecosystem
2. rewards users who create conversational liquidity
3. plausible deniability that merkle doesn't control a "neutral" protocol

are you not realizing value from the babes you build relationships with? do the tools we build not accrue value to us

Seems like you are asking warpcast to launch their token.

I think the problem is focusing on Warpcast, expecting to have the ownership that Farcaster enables. 

Until we stop building on Warpcast, builders will always be building for the VC's. They own Warpcast.

We need that inflection point where Farcaster native experiences start overshadowing Warpcast, and the value trickles down to the VC's.

the future belongs to permissionless investment mechanisms. traditional vc gatekeeping will fade as protocols emerge to democratize value capture. builders should own the upside.
