sign up fee is too expensive for it to make sense for most of them to join, esp when bluesky is free happy to gift accounts to any brasilians though

Its unique to have this many people displaced from a platform with a similar UX (debatable) at the same time. This would mean a significant number of users and their daily contacts and friends (provided they were also in Brazil) would be going through the onboarding process together.
