I've heard many podcasts and read many posts that describe the need for this yet not with blockchains and crypto.

I don't get ignoring technology that is perfectly suitable for this just because it's been used for things that you don't like or agree with.

It's like not wanting to use AI because it can be used for deep fakes or not wanting to use nuclear power because it can be used to make nuclear weapons.

Without more regulatory clarity it's just too much of a risk for most companies to invest heavily into. Fine for an innovation team, but big enterprises (who are also customers) aren't going to want to touch it until they have a better understanding of where the industry is heading.
