many parents around me sent them to adult prison, sometimes it hurts witnessing it unfolding

I read this with a 1920s gangster accent. Just need to add the word "see" after the word prison

fun fact: I learned about the effect of aging on perceived time passing because my timeouts were always minutes = age

at some point I was just chilling for an extended period that I didn't mind.

I once sat quietly in timeout all night from dinner to bedtime rather than finish some peas on my plate

My parents didn’t admit at the time that they were impressed but they said that they never served me peas again

It’s odd that people still do it, even though it never works.
